The Adams-Onis Treaty set the boundaries of the Louisana Purchase. The two territories included present day California, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and parts of Wyoming and Colorado.

Greer County

The boundary line set in the treaty determined the Red River to be the southern boundary.This became a heated controversy regarding who owned Greer County, Texas or the U.S. In 1896, the U.S. took control of this area.
